Brief History of the Department

The Department of Peace and Security Studies came into existence under the School of Social and Management Sciences on the 6th November 2020 when Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) was established and recognised by the National University Commission (NUC) as the 47th state and 171st University of Nigeria. The Department is one of the departments which constitute the academic structure of the school of Study.

The Head of the Department of Peace and Security Studies coordinates both the academic and administrative activities of the Department who is responsible to the Dean of the School of Social and Management Sciences. At its inception, the Department of Peace and Security Studies started with the following programmes:

This is to produce a crop of graduates with appropriate knowledge in order to make their contributions to the development of Nigeria, Africa and the global community having been exposed to knowledge in the field of Social Sciences in general and in the various sub-fields of Peace and Security Studies in particular.
